Special Thanks to REGAL Theaters  Summer 2008
This summer, members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of  Chula Vista  enjoyed free admission to the movies two mornings each week.  Thanks to the Regal Entertainment Group’s Free Family Film Festival, Boys & Girls Club members took in their favorite flicks at the local Rancho Del Rey Stadium 16 Regal Theater.

This summer, members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Chula Vista will enjoy free admission to the movies, thanks to Regal Entertainment Group's Free Family Film Festival.  In addition, the Boys & Girls Club of Chula Vista will receive funds to cover transportation and staffing expenses. This grant is very timely since it comes during a period when gas prices have reached an all-time high in most areas across the country.

This generous offer from the Regal Theatre Group is a real lifesaver for us in the summer when the number of kids we serve often doubles, said Luis Canett of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Chula Vista.  Most importantly, this movie experience will be a first for many of our members and our goal is to constantly stretch their imagination, while opening doors to a world of exploration and excitement.
The Boys & Girls Clubs have played an integral role in the Chula Vista community for 50 years, providing daily programs and services to 500 young people.  The Club is open weekdays and during school breaks with programs that emphasize education and career enhancement, character and leadership development, health and life skills, the arts, sports, fitness and  recreation.

Thanks to Ralph's Chula Vista for their Recent Donation of $2,500 to support Club Educational and Technology Programs

This $5,000 grant is one of 175 being presented by the JCPenney Afterschool Fund to local Boys & Girls Clubs across the country.  Clubs will utilize grant money by implementing Power Hour during the 2005-2006 school year. Power Hour serves as a homework assistance program for youngsters, ages 6 –18 and is designed to motivate and improve their homework skills.

Boys & Girls Club of Chula Vista is partnered with The Chula Vista JCPenney Store.  The relationship between local Boys & Girls Clubs and JCPenney stores/units is designed to help support and strengthen the Power Hour program.

Through Power Hour, “Homework Helpers, ” adults and qualified students, will be available to work with kids at Boys & Girls Club of Chula Vista during after-school hours.  These “Helpers” will encourage kids to set and accomplish goals, as well as communicate often with parents/guardians about their progress. Incentives and “Power Points” will be awarded for completion and high quality of homework.
